  1. Hi everyone, it looks like we made a mistake. Our apologies! Please note that the fight-or-flight response is characteristic of the sympathetic, not the parasympathetic functioning of the autonomic nervous system. Thanks to those of you who also flagged the error. We're working on updating the video.

  2. I remember way back 4 years ago, it was a regular day at work and then suddenly a mild earthquake happened (magnitude 3 ish). I panicked so hard, I was screaming, I was crawling, I ducked under my desk and covered my ears. It reminded me of the very strong earthquake I experienced 7 years ago, it was awful and traumatic, it felt like it was the end of the world. When the quake stopped, my office mates were looking at me and they were laughing and they kept teasing me the whole day. I felt small and embarrassed. I went home that day feeling bad. Few months later, I resigned. I just can't keep up with the toxic workplace environment.

That may not be PTSD but I just remembered that incident.

  3. A parent that has a Narcissistic Personality Disorder can 100% will definitely inflict PTSD to his/her child if the child live long enough with his/her Narcissistic Personality Disorder parent in the same house.

  4. My friend elore keeps saying that she has tryphobia, dyslexia, and a few other phobias/disorders…but I don't know if i should belive her… no symtoms show up, and she once even said she had " PTSD " because of the dream SMP ( Which is a minecraft survival roleplay made by a community of youtubers ) and I really don't belive her that much. Anyone have advice

  5. Unfortunately, PTSD rates are going to continue to rise, especially when children have unprecedented access to the Internet with all of its real-world horrors.

  6. Six months ago my boyfriend died in my arms while I tried to save him, then I almost died as well. I think the way the video was made (animation and tone) is good for trying to express the experience of PTSD to those without it, but as a result I find it’s not something I can watch. I do appreciate the comments of people sharing their experiences and hope my sentence will help someone else feel less alone.

  10. 1:42 "Escalated levels of stress hormones may last for days contributing to jittery feelings, nightmares and other symptoms. For most people, these experiences disappear within a few days to two weeks as their hormone levels stabilize but a small percentage of those who experience trauma have persistent problems…" Only a small percentage-how do you know this? Just curious. What about a very young child, even an infant?

  11. Did a little research on PTSD and learned that the parent's symptoms or trauma can be genetically inherited in a child, very interesting to me as I believed it was mostly an environmental disorder
